Hydrate: Your body will be more responsive if you are hydrated before beginning the IV. It is also possible for your veins to be smaller if you are low on fluids. Drinking water before your appointment will improve your response to the IV and make veins more visible for the nurse.

Eat: Before your appointment, eat a meal/snack if you are able, and ensure it contains protein. This is because some vitamins and minerals can cause nausea if taken on an empty stomach.
